Rapper 50 Cent has Twitter account suspended

by Millionout on Sep.07, 2010, under 50 Cent

50 Cent has made many enemies during his life and now there’s a new one to add to the list: Twitter.

The US rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, had his Twitpic account blocked after he uploaded a number of X-rated photos, including a photo of a woman in a bikini with a hamburger between her buttocks. The rapper also wrote ‘Y’all like my Kim K Burger?’ in reference to socialite Kim Kardashian.

Fiddy, who is famous for hits like In Da Club, P.I.M.P., Candy Shop (ft. Olivia) and I Get Money, didn’t react well when he realised his picture account had been blocked. He Tweeted: ‘Twitpic just suspended my account damn. They got 30mns to get it back or ima go haywire.’ When it wasn’t resolved within his  deadline, he launched into a tirade of foul language. ‘I told them mother****ers put it back… don’t touchin my s**t’ was just one of the Tweets he posted shortly afterwards.

The rapper has since apologised for his use of language, although his account remains suspended.

Snoop Dogg shuns LA Lakers for the big bucks

by Millionout on Aug.25, 2010, under Snoop Dogg

It’s well known that the rapper Snoop Dogg is a big Los Angeles Lakers fan. He’s often seen at their games and has talked about his love for the NBA franchise in several television and press interviews. However, it appears that there’s something Snoop loves even more than the Lakers – cold hard cash.

At the MTV Movie Awards in June, the rapper planned to wear an LA Lakers jersey while performing the song California Gurls with Katy Perry, but when it came to the crunch he appeared on stage in a NEFF t-shirt. It later emerged that NEFF, a company he has a 50% stake in, had been promised an order of 10,000 t-shirts by the retailer CCS if he wore them onstage.

This isn’t the first time that Snoop, who is known for hits like Not A Criminal, Gin & Juice II, Beautiful, One Blood and Gangsta Luv, has shown his ruthless business side. He is the proud owner of a multi-million dollar empire and his endorsement of brands has made him one of the richest rappers in the world, according to Forbes. A spokesman from Neff summed up his personality perfectly: “He loves the Lakers but he’s a businessman at the end of the day.”

Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr., aka Busta Rhymes, is an American rapper and hip hop singer-songwriter.

Born 20th May 1972 in Brooklyn, New York to Jamaican parents, Smith took an interest in rap and hip hop from a young age. At the age of sixteen he joined the hip hop crew Leaders of the New School, along with Charlie Brown, Cut Monitor Milo and Dinco D. They got their first break appearing on tour with Public Enemy (it was the band’s member Chuck D who gave him the name Busta Rhymes – after the NFL player George ‘Buster’ Rhymes) before signing to Elektra Records and making their first recorded appearance on the label’s compilation album Rubáiyát: Elektra’s 40th Anniversary.

The group released their debut studio album A Future Without a Past in 1991 and scored three US Hot Rap Singles chart Top 10 hits with Case of the P.T.A., Sobb Story and The International Zone Coaster. Rhymes and Charlie Brown subsequently appeared on the hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest’s hit single Scenario, before New School released their second studio album T.I.M.E. (The Inner Mind’s Eye) in October 1993. Despite the album reaching number 66 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the number one rap hit What’s Next, the group were in turmoil and split up shortly afterwards.

Rhymes signed to Elektra as a solo artist and released his debut album The Coming in 1996. It was a critical and commercial smash hit, reaching number one on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and number six on the Billboard 200. It also produced the US Top 10 single Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check.

Since then the rapper has released a further seven studio albums and scored Top 40 hits with the singles Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See, Dangerous, Turn It Up/Fire It Up, What’s It Gonna Be?! (ft. Janet Jackson), Break Ya Neck, Pass the Courvoisier Part II (ft. P. Diddy and Pharrell), I Know What You Want (ft. Mariah Carey and Flipmode Squad) and Touch It.

Busta Rhymes’ ninth solo album E.L.E.2 (Extinction Level Event 2) is due for release later in 2010.

Jeffery Johnson Jr., better known by his stage name Roscoe Dash, is an American rapper and singer.

Born 2nd April 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia, Johnson developed a love for rap music from a young age. His older brother, who was a successful rapper in the local area, encouraged him to listen to artists like Outkast, Jay-Z, Ludacris and T.I. and try to replicate them using his tape deck, CD player and mic. As Johnson got older he improved his craft and became a prominent member of the local rap and hip hop community. It was during this time he met his friend and future collaborator Antuan ‘Hoven the Great’ Major.

In the early 2000s they formed a successful rap duo and began entering local talent shows. This then developed into a rap quartet called Black Out Boiz (B.O.B.) – which also contained two rappers called Da General and Bad Newz – and they soon began to gain a reputation in the local area.

Johnson also completed some solo work and recorded the mixtape My Turn in January 2007. Singles like Hollowz, U Can’t Get Like Me and Runnin Back started to earn him a significant following. His follow-up mixtape Getting 2 Da Money – along with the singles So Arrogant and Hurt – cemented his reputation as a rising hip hop star and landed him a recording contract with Interscope. Other well known Roscoe Dash megahit is Slap Bow. Chech Roscoe Dash Slap Bow ringtones on mobijoy.com

He immediately began recording material for the label and released his debut single All Da Way Turnt Up (ft. Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em) on 2nd January 2010. It reached number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was followed by the hit single Show Out – which reached 41 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart.

Roscoe Dash’s debut album Ready Set Go! is set to be released in July 2010, with the album’s third single My Own Steps (written for the Disney film Step Up 3D) to follow shortly after.

Born 28th September 1978 in Bonn, Germany to a Tunisian father and a German mother, Bushido grew up in Berlin. Although often in trouble with the law – he built up a notable criminal record for things like vandalism and possession of drugs – he always took an interest in hip hop music.

Bushido’s career began in earnest in the late 1990s, when he released several demo tapes – including Frauenarzt-Tanga-Tanga. In 2001 he set up the label I Luv Money Records with fellow rappers King Orgasmus One, Bass Sultan Hengzt and D-Bo, and began work on his first official full-length demo album King of KingZ. This led to a record deal with the independent hip hop label Aggro Berlin with whom he released his second album Carlo, Cokxxx, Nutten (ft. Fler). This was followed by the rapper’s first solo release in July 2003 – Vom Bordstein bis zur Skyline – which reached number 88 on the German charts and is considered a landmark album in the breakthrough of German gangsta rap.

The rapper’s next album Electro Ghetto shot to number six on the German album chart, selling over 100,000 copies and being certified gold, while 2005’s Staatsfeind Nr. 1 achieved the same feat. Between them the albums also produced the Top 30 hits Electro Ghetto, Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt (ft. Cassandra Steen), Endgegner and Augenblick. Then came 2006’s Von der Skyline zum Bordstein zurück – which shot to number two on the album chart, selling over 200,000 copies, and produced the Top 20 hits Sonnenbank Flavour and the title single.

Bushido’s next two studio albums – 7 and Heavy Metal Payback – both reached number one in the chart, sold hundreds of thousands of copies between them and produced the Top 10 hits Alles Verloren, Ching Ching and Für immer jung (ft. Karel Gott). His latest album Zeiten ändern dich was released in February 2010 and has produced two Top 10 hits to date: Alles wird gut and Fackeln im Wind (ft. Kay One).

Born on 11th February 1977 in Aguora Hills, California, Shinoda first came to prominence as a vocalist, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist in the alternative rock group Linkin Park. Ice-T

by Millionout on Jul.13, 2010, under Ice-T

Tracy Marrow, better known by the name Ice-T, is an American rapper.

Born 16th February 1958, Marrow was born in Newark, Jersey, but moved to Los Angeles, California at a young age and developed his signature East Coast sound. After leaving high school he joined the army and remained there for four years before returning to LA with hopes of becoming a hip hop artist. His first job was writing the raps for Mr. T’s video Be Somebody… or Be Somebody’s Fool!

He soon landed a deal with Sire Records and released his debut album Rhyme Pays in 1987. Although notable as the first ever album to include a Parental Advisory warning label it was not a huge commercial success, only reaching number 96 on the Billboard Hot 100. His follow up album Power was released in 1988, with its lead single I’m Your Pusher receiving a significant amount of airplay on MTV, while his third album The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech… Just Watch What You Say was a critical smash hit and produced the singles Lethal Weapon and You Played Yourself.

However, Ice-T’s biggest hits were yet to come. The 1990s was his most prolific decade, in which he released four albums that helped him make his indelible mark on mainstream music. Between 1991’s O.G. Original Gangster, 1993’s Home Invasion, 1996’s VI – Return of the Real and 1999’s The Seventh Deadly Sin, Ice-T produced a number of hit singles, including New Jack Hustler (Nino’s Theme), Gotta Lotta Love, I Ain’t New To This, 99 Problems and I Must Stand. These tracks, along with the controversial Cop Killer (performed with his rap group Body Count) have since led to Ice-T being recognized as one of the most influential rappers of the 90s.

Since the turn of the century, Ice-T has released only one album – 2006’s Gangsta Rap.

Armando Christian Pérez, better known by his stage name Pitbull, is a Cuban-American rapper from Miami, Florida.

Born 14th January 1981, Pérez began rapping in high school and competed in several rap battles. He first appeared on the East Side Boyz’ album Kings of Crunk in 2002 and Luther Campbell’s single Lollipop, while his solo effort Oye was featured on the soundtrack of the film 2 Fast 2 Furious. Before launching his solo career Pérez claims he chose the pseudonym Pitbull because the dogs “bite to lock, [are] too stupid to lose and [are] outlawed in Dade County… they’re basically everything that I am”.

Pérez released his debut album M.I.A.M.I. (Money Is A Major Issue) in 2004. It immediately catapulted him to fame as it reached number fourteen on the Billboard 200. The single Culo (‘Ass’ in English) reached the Top 40 and was followed by Dammit Man, Back Up, Toma (ft. Lil Jon) and That’s Nasty. He also appeared on the Ying Yang Twins’ single Shake and Twista’s Hit the Floor, before joining fellow hip hop stars on the 2005 Anger Management Tour, headlined by Eminem and 50 Cent.

In 2006 the rapper released his second studio album, El Mariel, containing records sung in English and Spanish. Cypress Hill

by Millionout on Jun.22, 2010, under Cypress Hill

Cypress Hill is an American hip hop group, most notable for being the first Latino band to have platinum and multi-platinum selling albums.

Cypress Hill began life as DVX in 1986, a rap group formed by Cuban-American brothers Senen and Ulpiano Sergio Reyes (Sen-Dog and Mellow Man Ace respectively). But when Ulpiano left the group, Senen turned to fellow LA residents Lawrence Muggerud (Muggs) and Louis Freese (B Real) and, choosing the name from a local street, Cypress Hill was born.

The group began to pioneer a fusion of Latin music and American hip hop and, after recording a demo, were signed to Columbia Records in 1989. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1991 and successful tracks like The Phuncky Feel One, How I Could Just Kill A Man, Hand On The Pump and Latin Lingo led to the album selling two million copies in the US alone.

The group’s second album, Black Sunday, went triple platinum and sold over three million copies, with mega-hit single Insane in the Brain reaching the top twenty in the Hot 100 chart. The group was subsequently banned from Saturday Night Live after Muggs smoked a joint during a live performance of the song – a move than ensured their popularity skyrocketed overnight.

Cypress Hill’s third album III: Temples of Boom was released in 1995. It sold over 1.5 million copies and reached number three on the Billboard 200. This was followed by IV in 1998, which went gold in America due to the success of hit singles like Tequila Sunrise and Dr. Greenthumb, then their fifth album – the two-disc Skull & Bones. This experimental album, split between traditional hip-hop and more mainstream material, reached the top five on the Billboard 200 with the single Rock Superstar performing well in the rock charts while Rap Superstar was an urban radio hit.

Although their biggest successes came in the 1990s, Cypress Hill continue to release popular studio albums and have a dedicated live following all around the world.
