Percy Jayceon Miller, better known by his stage name Master P, is an American rapper and record producer.
Born 29th April 1967 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Miller is the oldest of sixteen children. He took an interest in rap and hip hop music from a young age and after attending the University of California opened the record store Big Booty Records in nearby Richmond. He slowly got to know some promising young rap artists in the California underground scene and set up the independent label No Limit to record their tracks. The label’s first success came through the group West Coast Bad Boyz, featuring the as-then-unknown rappers E-40 and Rappin’4-Tay, who released several albums in the early 1990s.
Miller also began recording his own material under the pseudonym Master P, and released his debut album Get Away Clean in 1991. This was followed by 1992’s Mama’s Bad Boy, 1994’s The Ghettos Tryin’ to Kill Me! and 99 Ways to Die (which reached number 41 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart) and 1996’s Ice Cream Man. The latter reached number 3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and number 26 on the Billboard 200, producing the Top 20 rap chart hits Mr. Ice Cream Man and No More Tears.
The rapper’s next two albums – Ghetto D and MP Da Last Don – both reached the top spot on the Billboard 200, selling over 7.5 million copies between them, and produced the Top 30 hits I Miss My Homies (ft. Pimp C and Silkk the Shocker), Make ‘Em Say Uhh! (ft. Silkk the Shocker, Mia X, Fiend and Mystikal) and Goodbye to My Homies (ft. Mo B. Dick, Sons of Funk and Silkk the Shocker).
Since then Master P has released a further seven studio albums and overseen his record label grow into a business empire that includes a clothing range, film production company, sports management and travel agencies. As of mid-2010, he has an estimated wealth of around $54.5 million.

The group’s first official studio album release was postponed when Yayo was sent to prison for gun possession, but they soon replaced him with the Nashville rapper Young Buck and went back into the studio. It reached number two in the US charts, selling over six million copies worldwide, and produced the Hot 100 Top 15 singles Stunt 101 and Wanna Get to Know You (ft. Joe).
